2 Books to Get You Motivated

Plenty of people want to get their finances in order and learn to live within their means. That being said, it is very difficult to know where to start. One of the best things you can do for yourself in the beginning is to read as many financial books and blogs that you can find on the subject. Everyone has something different to say about debt, savings, and cutting expenses. It is good to have as much information available so that you can decide the right path for you.

There were 2 books in particular that had a great influence on my ability to make that big change in the right direction.

1) The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. This book changed my life. Ramsey explains how within 7 steps one can go from drowning in debt with no savings to establishing a healthy financial future. This book is available in most libraries, which is where I obtained my first copy. I feel so moved by the book I am actually planning on purchasing.

2) The Complete Tightwad Gazette by Amy Dacyczyn. This book is for the brave who plan to cut back on their expenses either temporarily or permanently. I find this is very informative on ways to lower expenses on everything from groceries, finding used clothes and furniture, and having a simple life on a low income. It's a little dated, from the 90s, but most of the information still applies. Dacyczyn makes this book pretty entertaining with some of her own personal stories and quirks. Also available at your local library. I plan on investing in this book, also.

These two books started my transformation. Give them a try, maybe they will ignite a spark in you to change for a healthier financial you.
